Sickle Cell & Thalassaemia Awareness Ambassadors
Notes from Ambassadors

As a mother, lawyer, and person living with Sickle Cell disease, I am proud of my accomplishments. I am grateful to be able to practice law in multiple countries and to have found ways to manage my condition. Despite the stresses of my work, I prioritize a stress-free life and rely on my faith in God, family, friends, and medical team for support. Coping with Sickle Cell disease requires careful management of symptoms and a focus on achievable goals. I am honoured to be an ambassador for NHCO and the Sickle Cell warrior community. As Shakespeare said, "Uneasy lies the head that wears the crown."

I am Funmilayo Ola-Adenekan. I am a registered nurse with the Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. I am thrilled to announce that I have been appointed as an Honorary Sickle Cell Ambassador for NHCO. I am deeply passionate about raising awareness and providing support for individuals affected by Sickle Cell disease - a mission that perfectly aligns with NHCO's values. Through my unwavering commitment to bridge gaps, advocate for equal healthcare access, and inspire hope within the Sickle Cell community, I am eager to collaborate with NHCO to create a brighter future for all those impacted by this illness. Thank you for granting me the opportunity to make a positive impact.
